Default APA server will be down Sept. 4

As reported in the last several issues of the Arkansas Publisher Weekly, the APA Communications Department and outside consultants will be performing a file/Web server upgrade on Friday, September 4, the day before the Labor Day Weekend begins. This will mean that after 10:00 a.m. APA’s Ad Clearinghouse, Subscription Services, these forums and email will be down. It will be impossible to pull down columns, retrieve ads or participate in the discussion board during that time.

I estimate that the server will be back online late that afternoon but unforeseen factors could increase the down time. Similarly, we might be finished earlier than anticipated.

In case of emergency, newspapers can request that ad mail be emailed to them by contacting Rebecca McGraw (rebecca.mcgraw@gmail.com) or Eva Bakalekos (adgirlarkansas@yahoo.com) via their Web mail accounts.

APA's Web site should be available without interruption during that time, but the Online Services will not be accessible. Please plan accordingly.

Thanks.

Default Reminder

Just a reminder to all that we will be performing a Web/file server upgrade tomorrow (September 4) beginning at 10:00 a.m. APA’s Ad Clearinghouse, Subscription Services (including Hooten's Arkansas Football rankings, Steve Barnes' editorials, etc.), the BBS, these forums and email functions will be down. It will be impossible to pull down columns, retrieve ads, email APA staff members or participate in the discussion board during that time.

I estimate that the server will be back online 4:00 p.m., but with upgrades like this, it is impossible to give a precise time. The APA Web site will be accessible throughout the day as will the Arkansas Public/Legal Notices online database.

APA is urging members to plan ahead and download their ads and other essential materials from the APA server prior to the maintenance period.

Those who fail to get ad copy beforehand and who must get an ad on Friday should call Rebecca McGraw or Eva Bakalekos at 501.374.1500.
