Default Young Journalist Award

The time is now to be thinking of nominees for the first Arkansas Press Association “Young Journalist Award” to be presented this summer at the tri-state convention in Tunica. The awards are designed to recognize quality work by up and coming journalists at APA member newspapers who are age 30 and younger as of Dec. 31 of the contest year. That means that this year’s nominees would be 30 and under as of the Dec. 31 just past. Two of the award will be presented. One will be for a young journalist at a non-daily newspaper and one at a daily. Each of the awards comes with a plaque and a check for $250. The deadline for nominations is March 31.
An editor or publisher must submit the nominee’s resume and letter of nomination along with ten (10) samples of work from the previous year. Entries will be judged on the quality and variety of the work samples, and the impact of the work in the community. The nominations will be judged and the winners selected by members of another state press association.
In addition to being 30 or younger as of Dec. 31, the nominee must be an employee or regular contributor of an APA member newspaper in good standing.
Nominations should be submitted to the APA.
