Question Political Annoucements: Paid or Free?

Does your newspaper charge for political announcements? If so, how much do you charge? Melody Moorehouse, publisher of the Sheridan Headlight, poses the question. Others would likely want to know, too, as yet another political year looms. Post your responses here and let's see who's doing what and charging what.

The Stone County Leader allows one political announcement as news, but it must be run prior to the end of the filing period. Also, they can't run one free this fall and then again in the spring. The second would be referred to the ad department.

We love the ones that try the tactic of "informally" announcing at one time with the intention of "formally" announcing at another. Nice try!
