Default Judges needed for Mississippi Contest

The Arkansas Press Association is asking members and associate members to participate in next month’s judging of the Mississippi Press Association’s Editorial and Photo Contest. That will take place April 29 in the Conference Room of the Association of Arkansas Counties, whose headquarters is just across Victory Street from the APA offices.

Lunch will be provided to all, and door prizes will be given away throughout the day. As those who have served as judges in the past know, the judging provides an excellent opportunity to pick up ideas to bring back to their newspapers and organizations.

The judging is a reciprocal agreement with the Mississippi Press Association who judged APA’s recently-concluded Advertising Contest. So far only five have volunteered for the judging, and APA needs many more judges. A sign-up form/fact sheet is available at APA’s Web site in the “News” section.

Default We still need more judges

Twenty APA members and associate members have signed up to judge the Mississippi Press Associationís (MPA) Editorial Contest Thursday, April 29, at the Association of Arkansas Counties building just across the street from the APA headquarters in Little Rock, but more are needed.

In fact Terri Cobb, APA contest coordinator, says 35 are needed to really give the MPA contest a good judging.

If youíve been intending to sign up and havenít, please do so today. We need your help in providing this reciprocal judging. Members of the MPA will be judging APA entries April 22-23 in Jackson, Miss., and Grenada, Miss., respectively. Lunch will be provided for all judges.

The APA Better Newspaper News-Editorial Awards will be presented Saturday, June 26, at the Tri-State Convention in Tunica, Miss. Those presentations will also include the new Young Journalist Awards begin presented for the first time this year.

APA urges members to participate in the judging. To sign up contact Terri Cobb at 501.374.1500, or email her: terri@arkansaspress.org.
