Default Frank Robins III obituary

The Arkansas newspaper industry mourns the loss of Frank Robins III. He, along with his grandfather—Frank Robins (1923)—and father—Frank Robins Jr. (1940), was a past president of the Arkansas Press Association (1974).
Frank E. Robins III, 80, former publisher of the Log Cabin Democrat in Conway and a longtime business and civic leader, died Saturday, August 29, at his home. He retired in 1994 after 35 years as owner-publisher of the newspaper, bringing to an end four generations of family ownership of Faulkner County's oldest business. A lifelong Conway resident and 1945 graduate of Conway High School, Robins attended Arkansas State Teachers College (now the University of Central Arkansas) and graduated from Hendrix College in 1949 with a degree in music. An Air Force veteran of the Korean War, achieving the rank of second lieutenant, Robins was elected president of the Arkansas Press Association in 1974. He served as director from Arkansas and chairman of one of six standing committees of the Southern Newspaper Publishers Association. Robins was a former member of the Society of Professional Journalists, Sigma Delta Chi. In July he was awarded the Arkansas Press Association’s Distinguished Service Award.
